What is microwave radiation leakage testing?
It involves measuring the radiation levels around a microwave to ensure they are below the limits set by the the Radiation Health Committee and Australian standards.
Do I need my microwave oven checked for radiation leakage?
A workplace microwave oven gets heavily used during work hours, with heat, liquid and electricity used together, and food particle build up, the chances of damage to the oven increases. The oven seals become worn over time, internal rust, all can contribute to radiation leakage, thus causing a risk to employees or users.
How does a microwave oven get tested?
If a microwave oven passed the AS/NZS 3760 standard, we then perform additional testing as per AS/NZS 60335.2.25, visual reporting of internal and external surfaces, buttons, displays, seals etc.
A power test is completed, to check of the power output of the microwave is same as the manufactures rated output.
Radiation checks are completed as per Australian Standards
